Like many other smartphones, you can select any ring tone you want to hear when you get a call on your Samsung Galaxy S5. It can be either from the default ring tones stored on your phone or from any of your downloaded or customized tracks. But if you prefer to hear nothing at all for incoming calls and text messages, then use the silent mode instead. Need help in managing any of these ring tone settings? If so, then I suggest you should read on this content.
A. Steps to select ring tone on Galaxy S5
1. Slide your finger down the screen from the topmost part of your phone until the menu icons for WiFi, Location, Sound, Screen rotation and Bluetooth show up.
2. Now touch the settings icon (it's the one that looks like a wheel), located on the upper-right corner of the screen.
3. Touch Sounds under Quick Settings to proceed.
4. Touch Ringtones from the list of Ringtones and Notifications options.
5. Touch any of the available ring tones (default) from your phone to listen to them.
6. Select the ring tone you like and touch the OK button.
You can also use any of your own (downloaded) ring tones. To do so, just touch the Add button, select any of the available tracks stored on your phone and listen to them. Once you've chosen which ring tone to assign to or use on you phone, touch Done.
Now get back to the Home screen by pressing the Home key. You may also test your ring tone this time.
B. Turn GS 5 silent mode on/off.
Silent mode is often used by phone owners at work, especially during formal events or conferences. When silent mode is enabled, all phone sounds are turned off.
For new owners of the Galaxy S5 who need help in turning silent mode on/off their phone, here's a quick guide for you to follow:
1. Press and hold the ON/OFF key.
2. Touch Mute under Device options. Doing so will turn on silent mode.
3. To turn Silent Mode OFF, touch Sound instead.
It's that simple! You may try these methods on your phone right now or later and see how these work on your end.
If you're having some troubles with the sound settings configuration on your Galaxy S5, then let us know in the comments section.
