Advertisements
This article elaborates standard methods to troubleshoot and resolve 4G SIM card issues with the new Samsung Galaxy Note 4. You may refer to this guide whenever you think necessary.

Don't forget to test your device after completing each method to see if that has fixed the problem. Otherwise, continue to the next step.

1. Make sure you're within your network service provider's or carrier's coverage area.

Generally, carriers offer a coverage map that would help subscribers determine whether they're still within their network coverage.

Signal issues usually transpire if you're already out of your network coverage area, so knowing this thing is a good start in solving the main issue.

2. Make sure the SIM card is properly inserted.

Try to remove and re-insert the SIM card. Follow these steps to do it right:

a. Make sure the device is completely powered off.

b. When it's off, locate the notch on the upper left corner of the cover, from the back, then gently pull the battery cover off.

c. Find the notch in the lower right corner of the battery then pull the battery out, gently.

d. Slide the SIM card out of the Micro SIM card slot, then insert it back in with the gold contacts facing down, and then insert the card notched end first into the Micro SIM card slot.

e. Carefully align the battery contacts then press the battery into position.

f. Carefully align the cover then press it into place, gently.

Error prompts that indicate the SIM card is incorrectly inserted or incompatible with the device, include "SIM card failure" and "No SIM card inserted."

3. Perform a soft reset.

If after removing and re-inserting the SIM card the issue remains, then try to perform a soft reset on your device.

A soft reset has been commonly used to resolve several device issues including a continuous reset/reboot, device crashes, freezing, as well as signal issues. So you might as well give this a try. Here's how:

a. Press and hold the Power button located on the upper right corner until you are prompted with the Phone options.

b. Tap on Restart.

c. Tap OK when you're prompted with "The device will restart."

Alternately, a soft reset can also be done by simply removing and re-inserting the battery.

4. Isolate the problem and see if the SIM card works in your other devices available.

Try to use the SIM card in alternate equipment and see if it works just fine. If so, then the problem is on the device.

You can also refer to the following tips to troubleshoot/handle issues related to the 4G SIM card.

a. Prevent exposing SIM card to extreme temperatures and magnetic fields.
b. Avoid touch the gold contacts.
c. Ensure the gold contacts are correctly aligned to the gold contacts on the device.
d. Always keep the SIM card clean and dry.
e. Do not bend, trim, cut, or modify the SIM card in any way.

If problem persists after performing all the aforesaid troubleshooting procedures, please contact your phone carrier to escalate the problem for further troubleshooting assistance and recommendations. You can also ask for SIM card replacement if applicable.
