One of the integrated functions on Samsung's latest Galaxy Note device from the Air Command menu is the Smart Select. With the Air Command, you will be able to access a number of features and functions of the Galaxy Note 4 in an instant. All you need to do is to briefly press the S Pen button while holding your S Pen a few millimeters above the screen.
Note:
A list of four different pen features will display after you press the S Pen button. Among these features include the Image Clip, Screen Write, Action Memo and Smart Select. All these are called the Air Command features.
Here's a quick guide on how to use the Smart Select feature on the Galaxy Note 4. Just follow these steps:
1. Ready the your device and the S Pen.
2. Hold the S Pen a few millimeters above screen.
3. Now, press and hold the S Pen button.

- You should then see the four Air Command features showing up on screen.
- The name of the function you hover over will be displayed on the text icon located in the center of the Air Command menu.
- Use the Action Memo to help you write a quick memo and link actions to them. You can also make calls, send messages, search the Internet, and more with this feature.
- Generally, Smart Select is used to collect contents quickly.
- To draw around an area of the screen, use the image clip, then save or share it.
- To capture edit, and write memos on selected screenshots, use Screen Write, then share them.
How to Capture Image and Send it via a text message using Smart Select
Follow these steps to capture an image of a video and send it via a text message afterward.
1. Tap Apps from the Home screen.
2. For this example, we'll use a YouTube video. So, tap on YouTube to launch YouTube app.
3. Start watching any video you want to use with Smart Select.
4. Now hover the S Pen a few millimeters over the screen and press the S Pen button.
5. Tap on Smart Select from the Air Command menu.
6. Next, tap and hold the tip of the S Pen on the area of the screen you want to capture and then drag the S Pen to highlight the selected area.
7. The Smart Select options screen will now display. Among the available options from the Smart Select screen include Save in Scrapbook, Share via, More options, Extract from item and Collect. Now tap on the Collect icon to select Collect from the given options.
8. You should then see the Smart Select floating window on screen. To move the floating window, just tap and hold, then drag it to another part of the screen.
9. Next, tap and hold the tip of the S Pen on the screen area where you want to capture, and then highlight the area using the S Pen.
10. Tap on the Collect icon. Doing so will collect the highlighted part of the screen.
11. Return to the Home screen by pressing the Home key.
12. Add your collected items to a text message by tapping on Messages from the Smart Select floating window on the Home screen.
Hint:
The number shown at the lower right corner of the image represents the number of images currently collected.
13. Tap on the Create Message icon to continue.
14. Now drag the Smart Select capture into the message input area, and then lift up the S Pen. Doing so will integrate or insert the contents to the message body.
15. Tap on the Add contacts icon to proceed.
16. Specify the receiving contact by tapping in the checkbox next to the contact to whom you want to send the message to.
17. To clear the keyboard from the screen, tap the Back key.
18. Next, tap the Send icon to send the message.
How to Save a Collected Image to the Scrapbook
Follow these steps to save a collected image to the scrapbook on your Galaxy Note 4.
1. Go to the Home screen.
2. Tap on the image in the floating window from the Home screen.
3. Tap on the More options icon to view more options.
4. Tap on Select to continue.
5. Now tap in the checkbox next to the image you want to save.
6. Tap on the Save to Scrapbook icon located on the upper right of the screen.
7. Tap on the Save icon from the My Scrapbook screen.
8. Return to the Home screen by pressing the Home key.
9. Tap on Apps for you to view the items saved in Scrapbook from the Home screen.
10. Tap on Scrapbook to open it.
11. You should then see the available items stored in My Scrapbook. Tap on the image you want to view or use.
The original web address (url) of the selected image in Scrapbook will then show (if available).
Tapping on that URL will prompt you to select an app through which you can view the image's source to.
How to delete a captured image
If you don't like the output of your captured image, then just delete it using these steps:
1. Go to the Home screen.
2. Tap and hold on the Smart Select floating window, and then drag the content(s) you want to erase and drop it to the Delete icon located at the top of the screen.
3. Confirm your action by tapping on the Delete button.
How to Activate Air Command Automatically whenever you remove the S Pen from its slot
You can activate Air Command whenever you take out the S Pen from its slot. To do so, go to the S Pen menu under Settings, and ten tap on Detachment options. Tap to select Air Command from the Detachment options.
More Hints:
When you press the S Pen button then the Air Command does not display even if the S Pen is just within range of your device, then it is possible that the Air Command feature is disabled or turned off.
To get this fixed, verify the Air Command status in your settings and follow these steps to enable or activate the feature.
1. Tap Apps from the Home screen.
2. Tap on Settings.
3. Tap to select S Pen.
4. Tap on Air Command from the S Pen screen.
5. Drag the Air Command switch to the right to enable the feature (if necessary).
Air Command is now enabled and ready for use on your Galaxy Note 4 device.
