Suddenly, my Samsung Galaxy Alpha Can't Connect to a Wi-Fi Network

This article offers troubleshooting methods and resolution procedures to fix an issue with the Galaxy Alpha that is unable to connect to the Internet over Wi-Fi network.

If you are having the same issue with your device, then I encourage you to read on to find out what you can do to determine the cause and have it fixed promptly.

Be sure to test your device after completing each of the following methods to find out if the problem is already fixed, otherwise, proceed to the next steps.

A. Is the problem started after downloading new apps to your device?

If this is the case, then most likely the problem is caused by that application. There are certain apps that would turn off wireless functionality on the device, including Bluetooth, Cellular Data, and Wi-Fi.

So try to uninstall any recently downloaded/installed apps on your device and see what happens afterward.

B. Verify Wi-Fi settings and make sure it's enabled or turned on.

It could be that you have accidentally turned off or disabled your phone's Wi-Fi. So, try to check your phone's Wi-Fi settings and enable Wi-Fi when necessary.

To turn on or enable Wi-Fi on the Galaxy Alpha, you can just drag down the notification bar, and then tap Wi-Fi to turn it on or off. Be sure it's ON.

Once Wi-Fi is enabled, your phone will automatically connect to an available saved network. An indication that Wi-Fi is enabled or on, is when the switch appears GREEN, and available networks will be automatically displayed. Just tap on the wireless network you prefer to use or connect to. If prompted, please enter the correct security code.

Also ensure your phone is getting a strong Wi-Fi signal. If the signal strength is too low, then try to change your location.

C. Perform a soft reset.

A soft reset often times does the trick. The concept is just to power the phone off and turn it back on. The standard procedure is to turn the device off, leave it off for 30 seconds, and after the elapsed time, turn the phone back on. After the soft reset, retry connecting to the Internet via Wi-Fi.

If problem persists, please contact your Internet Service Provider or network carrier and verify for any possible outages that might be affecting wireless networks in your place. Also be sure to verify if your account is in good status. Sometimes, a network service can be disrupted due to an account that is not in good standing.
