Update Samsung Gear S to the latest software version available

Starting November 9, the Samsung Gear S (T-Mobile) obtained a software update to R750TUVU1ANJ7, which offers call forwarding enhancements and menu language updates.

If you're with T-Mobile and an owner of Samsung Gear S, then this guide is for you. Read on and learn how to check the software version and official versions for your Gear S device.

Check Software version on Gear S

Follow these steps to check the current software version of your Samsung Gear S:

//For connected smartphone Samsung Gear Manager software version

1. Tap the Apps tray from the Home screen.

2. Tap on Samsung Gear Manager.

3. Tap Settings to continue.

4. Tap to view the Application version under System and check it on the given table below.

//For Gear S software version

1. Slide up to open the App tray from the Home screen.

2. Slide to and tap on Settings.

3. Tap on Gear info.

4. Tap on About Gear.

5. View and read the Software version on the phone and refer to the given software version table.

Other versions	Your phone has non-T-Mobile software, and it is unsupported. The manufacturer and T-Mobile cannot update your software.

Software Update Requirements

In order to update to the latest software version available, be sure to have at least 50 percent or higher battery life on your device. Your Galaxy device must also have data connection and finally, your Gear S must be connected to a Galaxy device.

Software Update Methods 

A. OTA or over-the-air (automatic update)

You may opt to update automatically (OTA) or over-the-air. Automatic software update has been pushed since November 9. You will be notified through your device when it's ready to update.

Once you already get the OTA notification, you may proceed with these steps:

1. Open the Samsung Gear Manager on the connected smartphone.

2. Tap on the connected device name.

3. Tap on Software update.

4. Select Update now.

5. Tap OK to proceed.

B. Download/Install Software Update

If you don't avail of the OTA software update, you can update your Gear S software from by downloading and installing it from the phone. Follow these steps to check for updates and download the latest software version for your Gear S from the Samsung servers.

1. Open the Samsung Gear Manager on the connected smartphone.

2. Tap on the connected device name.

3. Tap on Software update to continue.

4. Select Update now.

5. Tap OK to start downloading the update. If prompted, just follow the on-screen instructions to complete the software update installation process on your Samsung Gear S.
