Powering-saving tips for Samsung Galaxy Alpha users

One thing you can do to maximize productivity of your Samsung device like the Galaxy Alpha is by using Power Saving mode. With the power-saving mode enabled, you can set your phone to conserve battery power by minimizing performance.

Steps to Enable/Turn ON Power Saving Mode on Alpha


1. Tap on Apps from the Home screen.
2. Tap on Settings.
3. Select Power saving and choose power-saving settings to configure.

You can choose between Power saving mode or Ultra power saving mode to activate and use on your Galaxy Alpha.

A. Power Saving Mode

If you choose to use Power saving mode, touch Power saving mode, then touch the slider to turn the feature ON. After you enable this mode, you will be prompted with the following options to configure.

a. Restrict background data - this option reduces background data usage to conserve battery power but some apps will still use data connection.

b. Grayscale mode-  this option converts color screens to battery-friendly grayscale. To enable this feature, simply touch the slider next to it.

c. Restrict performance - this option is activated or enabled by touching the slider On. When enabled, you can mark the checkboxes next to the features you want to use.


  •  CPU performance - this feature is used to limit the maximum performance of the CPU to save battery power.
  • Screen output - this feature utilizes a lower frame rate and power level for your device's screen/display.
  • Turn off touch key light - when enabled, the Recent Apps and Back buttons on the front of your phone won't light up when the Home key is pressed or when they are touched.
  • Turn off GPS - this feature disables or turns off location services and GPS functions while in Power saving mode.


B. Ultra Power Saving Mode


If you prefer to use Ultra Power Saving mode, your device's screen will turn to black and while and non-essential apps will be shut off, thus allowing you to get the maximum battery life. With this mode enabled or activated, you still can receive calls and texts up to 24 hours even when your phone battery is already down to 10 percent.

To activate Ultra Power saving mode on the Galaxy Alpha, just touch get to the Settings menu and then touch the slider next to Ultra Power saving mode to turn the feature on. For first time users, Terms and conditions for using Ultra Power saving mode will be prompted. If so, then review the terms and conditions, mark the checkbox to agree, and the touch OK to proceed.

If you're prompted with the Ultra power saving mode screen, review the information and touch Enable.

When you're in Ultra Power saving mode, apps like Phone, Messages, and Internet will automatically become available. You can also make up to three more apps by touching on the + plus sign.

Other things you can do with Ultra power saving mode include adjusting network connections, sound and display settings on the device. This can be done by touching the More options (represented by a three-vertical-dots icon) and then select Settings under it.

If you don't want to use Ultra Power saving mode, then touch More options again, then select Turn off Ultra Power saving mode, and finally touch Disable to turn it off.

More Battery Power saving tips for Galaxy Alpha


There are also other options that will help you conserve battery power on your device. You can customize these options and turn off some features in the background. Doing so will let you use the device longer between charges.

Among the options you can configure to save power would include closing of unnecessary apps using the task manager, disable Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, GPS, mobile data connection, auto-syncing of accounts, Smart stay, Smart Paus and Smart Rotation especially when not in use.
